Volleyball
The varsity side won 3-2 at Telluride on Thursday afternoon. MaxPreps records the match as one that does not count toward the conference table, so the league column is unchanged — but it is the second five-set win in a row for a team that had taken only two matches to a decider all season before this month.
Dolores is now 18-2 overall and 7-0 in league play, the best record of any volleyball programme in the county. Neither of the two defeats came against a league opponent.
No junior varsity or freshman result was posted from Thursday.
Football
Varsity football lost 19-22 at Norwood on Saturday afternoon, a league game settled by three points and the closest conference result the Bears have had this autumn. It has a story of its own. Dolores is 4-4 for the year and 0-3 in the 8-Man Mountain league.
The week ahead
Volleyball travels to Norwood on Tuesday, October 27, with the varsity match first at 4:30 p.m. and the junior varsity to follow. The league tournament runs Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31; the schedule the school publishes says the venue depends on seeding, so there is no address to give yet.
Football closes its regular season at Del Norte on Saturday, October 31, kicking off at 1 p.m.
Both are road dates, so there is no Dolores home fixture left on the autumn calendar.
Scores and records here are counted from the Dolores Bears pages on MaxPreps, with fixture detail from the school district’s own activities schedule. The full county table is on our scoreboards page.
