Volleyball

The Bears beat Norwood 3-0 on the road on Tuesday, October 27. That was a league game and it was the eighth of eight, so Dolores finished the San Juan Basin League season at eight wins and no losses, having beaten Nucla, Telluride, Ridgway, Ignacio, Mancos, Ouray, Dove Creek and Norwood in turn.

Friday, October 30 brought two more at home, neither counting in league: 3-0 over Telluride at 3 p.m. and 3-1 over Ignacio at 7 p.m., the second of those at Dolores High School. Both were reported on Saturday.

The three wins were the 13th, 14th and 15th in a row. Dolores has not lost a varsity match since September 12, when it went down 3-2 to Vail Christian, and over the whole regular season it played 23 matches and won 21.

Two junior varsity matches on October 27, against Norwood and against Telluride, have no result posted on MaxPreps. If scores appear later, this story will be updated rather than replaced.

Football

The one game is already told. See the Current’s report from Saturday for how the margin compares with the rest of the Dolores season.

What comes next

Nothing further is listed for either team, and both now wait on seeding. The football brackets are being seeded today for every classification except 2A, and when the Current read the association’s bracket page early on Sunday each of those classes still showed no bracket released. Volleyball is a day behind it: the regional seeding meeting is Monday, with the regionals themselves to be finished by Saturday, November 7, state brackets out on Monday, November 9, and the championships from November 12 to 14. A regional played at Dolores would be the first home postseason date of the year for the school.

Every figure above was counted game by game from the feed behind the Current’s scoreboards page, which draws on the Bears’ pages on MaxPreps.
