Dolores trustees set a joint workshop on the Community Center
The Board of Trustees and the Community Center Advisory Board will sit down together on November 23 to talk about the center's operations, finances, facility needs and future planning. The town says no formal action is expected.
The Town of Dolores posted notice on Wednesday afternoon that its Board of Trustees and the Dolores Community Center Advisory Board will hold a joint public workshop on Monday, November 23, at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
The notice says the trustees will hold their regularly scheduled workshop that evening and that members of the advisory board will join them “for discussion concerning the Dolores Community Center, including its operations, financial sustainability, facility needs, and future planning.”
A quorum of both bodies may be present, the notice says, and the workshop is open to the public. “No formal action is anticipated.”
That is the whole of what the town has published about it. No agenda has been posted, and the notice does not set out what prompted the joint session or what either body will bring to it. The town clerk signed the notice, which went up at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday.
The Community Center is run with the help of the advisory board, which the town says meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The town has been looking for a community member to fill a seat on that board since early October, and the notice of that vacancy is still on the town’s press release page. The center was also the venue for the town’s first Stone Soup Jubilee in September.
November 23 is a fourth Monday, one of the trustees’ two regular meeting nights, and the board already has business booked for it. Its notice of hearings on the proposed 2027 budget says the board will take public comment on that budget “at its regular meeting on November 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.” — the same start time Wednesday’s notice gives for the workshop. The two notices are both the town’s own and neither mentions the other, so which begins at 5:30 and what time the other follows is not something the town has published. Trustees normally hold a workshop ahead of a regular meeting. Anyone planning to speak on the budget should call Town Hall to check the running order.
The board’s other November business includes a public hearing on an ordinance adopting International Code Council building codes by reference at the November 9 regular meeting, and the budget hearings on November 23 and December 14.
The notice is on the Town of Dolores press release page. Dolores Town Hall is at 601 Central Ave.
