Panther scoreboard: week of September 14
Boys soccer ran the table with five wins. Varsity football was shut out at home by Coal Ridge, and varsity softball lost a one-run thriller at Delta.
Montezuma-Cortez teams played twelve games between September 15 and 19. Boys soccer won all five of theirs, and the varsity side is now 7-2 on the season. Varsity football fell to 1-4.
Boys soccer
The varsity side beat Ridgway 5-0 at home on Tuesday, then took a 1-0 win at Kirtland Central on Thursday and a 2-0 league win at Alamosa on Saturday. The JV matched them, winning 3-1 at Kirtland Central and 4-2 at Alamosa.
Football
Varsity lost 0-42 to Coal Ridge at home on Friday night in a league game. That leaves the Panthers 1-4, their win a 44-0 season opener against Ignacio on August 21.
Softball
Varsity fell 13-14 at Delta on Friday in a league game decided by a single run, after a 3-8 loss at Durango on Tuesday. The JV split the week: a 14-2 win at Durango, then a 3-12 loss at Delta.
Volleyball
At Mancos on Tuesday, the girls JV won 2-0 while the varsity was swept 0-3.
The Panthers host Pagosa in volleyball on Tuesday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m. — the only home date this week. Homecoming football against Aspen is Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m.
