Nonprofits can apply for city grants through October 16
The Community Support Grant awards up to $5,000 to organizations serving Cortez; awards are announced in December.
The following is a news release from the City of Cortez, posted August 4, 2026.
The 2027 grant cycle is now open for the annual City of Cortez Community Support Grant. The deadline to submit a grant application is Friday, October 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. (City Hall closes at noon on Fridays.)

Most years, the Cortez City Council budgets money from the general fund to support non-profit community organizations that preserve or enrich the health, education, and welfare of the community. Community support organizations may receive grants, up to $5,000, to support activities and programs that are accessible to the City of Cortez community and encourage the development of healthy community organizations that provide programs for community welfare and education in the region. Award notifications will be sent out in early December, 2026 and funding will occur in January, 2027.
Completed applications can be submitted to Ms. Debbie Speer either electronically at dspeer@cortezco.gov or delivered by mail or in person to City of Cortez, Attn: Debbie Speer, 123 Roger Smith Ave., Cortez, CO 81321; and must be received by 5 p.m. October 16, 2026. City Hall closes on Fridays at noon. Please plan accordingly.
