Cortez seeks board members, applications due September 25
The city has openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Public Arts Advisory Committee, and the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.

Would you consider serving on a City of Cortez Advisory Board?
Cortez Planning & Zoning Commission Opening. The City of Cortez has one opening on the Cortez Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission. P&Z is the first body that reviews development proposals and is relied upon to help ensure that the City continues to grow, while preserving our sense of community. Some of the responsibilities include: making and adopting a comprehensive plan, hearing, recommending and/or determining matters relating to zoning, planning or subdivision control, recommending boundaries of the various zoning districts, and exercising the duties and powers of the Land Use Code, and applicable laws of the State of Colorado. All applicants shall be registered electors of the City. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a three-year term.
City of Cortez Public Arts Advisory Committee Opening. The City of Cortez has one opening on the Public Arts Advisory Committee. Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. in City Hall. Some of the responsibilities include making recommendations to Cortez City Council and City staff regarding arts initiatives and all aspects of planning, programming, procurement, installation, operations, maintenance, restoration, and promotion of City-owned public arts projects, and artwork. The term is for two years.
City of Cortez Board of Adjustment and Appeals Openings. The City of Cortez has two openings on the Board of Adjustment and Appeals. Responsibilities include hearing and deciding appeals, to permit variance or modifications of the height of structures, yard area, and lot coverage, and grant variances from flood hazard standards. Meetings are held when requested. Board members must reside within City limits. The terms are for three-year appointments.
