Cortez businesses must pre-certify for 2027 enterprise zone credits
The city says pre-certification for 2027 is open now, and that businesses have to do it before they spend the money they want credit for.
The following is a news release from the City of Cortez, posted November 3, 2026.
Attention All Cortez & Montezuma County Businesses!
If you are planning to claim Colorado Enterprise Zone (EZ) tax credits in 2027, you must pre-certify your business before you make any purchases that could be eligible for credits at the year’s end.
Pre-certification for 2027 is currently open through the Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
Montezuma County is located within an Enterprise Zone, which means eligible businesses and agricultural producers may qualify for tax credits on investments such as new equipment, job creation, employee training, and more.
- Pre-certify before making your qualifying investment or activity
- Your accountant or tax professional can complete pre-certification on your behalf
- Remember to pre-certify before purchasing, otherwise, the tax credits will not apply
