Rain brings rockfall to Road G and sinkholes to Road J
Montezuma County's Road and Bridge Department is working on both spots and asks drivers to avoid the area if they can.
The following is a notice from Montezuma County, posted to the county’s Facebook page on October 21, 2026.
Is everyone enjoying the rain so far? I know we need it but it is starting to cause a few issues. The Road & Bridge Department is aware of and working on Road G where rocks have fallen onto the road, and on Road J (where it comes off on the north side of Road G), where sink holes are starting to develop. Please be patient as they work and avoid the area if possible. We will try to keep you updated!

The notice came the day a National Weather Service flood watch took effect for the Four Corners, the Upper Dolores River and the San Juan River basin. That watch runs through noon Friday.
The county posts road notices on its Facebook page and said it would try to keep residents updated.
