Panther boys soccer blanks Alamosa for a 10th straight win
Montezuma-Cortez went 7-4-1 across five sports in the week of October 5. Soccer is unbeaten in league play; softball split both of its home doubleheaders.
Montezuma-Cortez boys varsity soccer beat Alamosa 5-0 at home on Saturday, a league win that was the team’s tenth in a row and left it 11-2 overall and 5-0 in league play — the best league record of any Panther program this fall.

Boys soccer
The varsity side shut out Alamosa 5-0 at home on Saturday in a league game. It has not lost since September 4 and is 11-2 overall, 5-0 in league. MaxPreps has posted no result for the JV match that followed; the JV side is 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league.
Softball
The varsity team split a home league doubleheader with Rifle on Monday, winning the first game 8-1 and losing the second 6-13, then split again at home against Cedaredge on Friday, winning 7-1 and losing 3-6. It finished the week 14-8 overall and 7-3 in league play. MaxPreps lists no further softball fixtures.
The JV team played three games at the Columbine fields on the Western Slope on Tuesday, losing 2-9 to Fruita Monument, beating Grand Junction Central 10-5 and tying Grand Junction 2-2. It is 6-3-1.
Volleyball
The varsity team won twice on the road early in the week — 3-1 at Monticello on Tuesday and 3-0 at Dove Creek on Thursday — before being swept 0-3 at home by Centauri in a league match on Saturday. The JV side lost that match 0-2. Varsity volleyball is 5-14-1 overall and 0-7 in league; the JV team is 2-10 and 0-3.
Football
The varsity team did not play. It is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league after losing 6-16 at home to Aspen on October 2.
Next at home
Varsity football hosts Basalt on Friday, October 16 at 7 p.m. Volleyball hosts Alamosa on Saturday, October 17.
