Donna Sue Schmittel

Donna Sue Schmittel died Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Mancos. She was born December 26, 1956, in Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of Leslie and Bernice Sanders.

She gave many years of service to her community through Girl Scouts, 4-H, her local school and the Lions Club.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Mesa Trails Cowboy Church, 221 W. Menefee, Mancos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robin Schmittel, and her daughter, Brianna Schmittel. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Johnson-Close and Kendra Gapp; her grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren.
