Mancos football wins big at Sanford as volleyball takes one of three

The Bluejays' varsity football team is 6-1 and unbeaten in league play. Volleyball lost twice before sweeping Monte Vista on Saturday.

Mancos varsity football won 40-8 at Sanford on Friday night, a fifth straight win that leaves the Bluejays 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the 8-Man Mountain league. The volleyball team had a harder week, losing two matches in straight sets before sweeping Monte Vista on Saturday morning.

Football

The varsity team’s 40-8 league win at Sanford on Friday was covered in full when the score was posted: Mancos football routs Sanford 40-8 to stay unbeaten in league. Mancos is 6-1 overall and has not lost since September 12.

MaxPreps has posted no result for the JV game at Dolores on Monday. The JV side has one recorded result this season.

Volleyball

The varsity team was swept 0-3 at home by Dolores in a league match on Tuesday, swept 0-3 again at Sanford on Friday, then beat Monte Vista 3-0 on the road on Saturday morning. That leaves it 8-8 overall and 3-2 in league play. The JV team lost 0-2 at Sanford and 0-2 at Monte Vista and is 0-4 overall.

Volleyball hosts Telluride on Tuesday, October 13, with the varsity match at 6 p.m. Varsity football hosts Norwood on Friday, October 16 at 1 p.m., a league game.
