Cortez police set Alive at 25 driver course for October 24
The defensive driving class runs from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the police department on North Park Street. Registration has to be done in advance, and the department says latecomers will not be let in.
The Cortez Police Department will teach an Alive at 25 driver awareness course on Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the police department building, 608 N. Park St.
The department says registration has to be done ahead of time, through the course page on the Alive at 25 website. People who arrive late will not be allowed to attend, so the notice asks participants to come early.
Attendees should bring a photo ID — a school ID, or a driver’s license if they have one. Food and drinks are allowed, and a water station will be set up for anyone bringing a water bottle. The department’s notice adds that marijuana may not be used or possessed at the class.
Anyone who finishes the course gets a certificate of completion from the instructor straight away. The department lists Officer Karla Ross as the instructor.
For people who cannot make the October date, the department points to online Alive at 25 classes running beforehand.
The notice does not list a fee. The Cortez Police Department can be reached at (970) 565-8441.
