Jim Franz Logan died Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at his home in Cortez at the age of 66. He was born in West Germany.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1987 through 1992, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm from November 1990 through April 1991, and rose to the rank of sergeant. He worked in heating, cooling and commercial refrigeration for more than 35 years and ran his own company, JNL Mechanical, LLC, in and around Cortez.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion, 320 N. Harrison St., Cortez. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to any legitimate organizations that support veterans.
