Johnney Wayne Burris died October 14, 2026, in Durango at the age of 68. He was born December 21, 1957, in Midland, Texas, to Johnney and Cretia Burris.
A military funeral service is set for Thursday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at the American Legion, 320 N. Harrison St., Cortez. Inurnment follows at 1 p.m. at Cortez Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank Burris; and his nephew, Adam Burris. He is survived by his sister, Donna Weems, and her husband, Rick Weems, of Texas; his daughter, Bambi Longoria Martinez, and her husband, Gilberto Vacio; three granddaughters; and nieces and nephews in the Cortez area.
